Professional Dog Walking in Billingshurst

Bow-Wows Professional Canine Care

I’m Andrea, owner of Bow-Wows Professional Canine Care. With seven years’ professional dog-walking experience, I provide thoughtful, dependable care built around each dog’s physical, emotional and behavioural needs.

Experienced, welfare-led dog walking, puppy visits and individual care in Billingshurst and the surrounding West Sussex villages.

My approach recognises that every dog is an individual. Age, health, confidence, temperament and energy levels all influence the care they need, from choosing suitable walking companions to setting a comfortable pace and providing opportunities to sniff, explore and rest.

Carefully Matched Small Group Walks

Group walks offer suitable dogs opportunities to explore and enjoy companionship in a carefully managed environment. I take time to get to know each dog before introducing them to others, considering their communication, play styles, confidence and comfort around other dogs.

Groups never exceed six dogs, with suitability taking priority over filling spaces. Walks include supervision, positive interaction and time to investigate their surroundings, with attention to signs that a dog needs more space or a quieter pace.

Individual and Solo Dog Walks

Some dogs are most comfortable with individual attention. Solo walks allow me to adapt the route, pace and level of activity to the dog, including those who are nervous, reactive, older or simply prefer their own company.

My experience with my own reactive German Shepherd has given me a practical understanding of the value of space, patient handling and quieter walking environments.

Varied Countryside Walks

I use a selection of familiar countryside routes around Billingshurst and the surrounding villages, offering variety while considering the dogs’ needs and the conditions on the day.

Routes are chosen with attention to roads, livestock, railway lines and other potential hazards. Off-lead exercise is considered individually, taking account of owner consent, recall, the surroundings and the dog’s readiness.

Comfortable, Considered Transport

My fully electric van is fitted with professional bespoke crates and air conditioning. Dogs from different households do not share crates.

Transport forms part of their care, with attention to comfort, ventilation, cleanliness and time spent travelling.

Puppy Visits and Home Drop-Ins

Puppies benefit from gentle introductions, positive experiences and plenty of rest. Visits are tailored to their stage of development and established routine, allowing time for toilet breaks, feeding where required, companionship and appropriate interaction.

Home drop-ins are also available for older dogs and those who need care and company during the day.

Professional Care and Clear Communication

I am fully insured, canine first-aid trained and DBS checked. Before care begins, we discuss your dog’s health, behaviour, routine, dietary requirements and any particular concerns.

A free initial consultation gives us an opportunity to meet, assess suitability and agree on the service that best supports your dog.

Drop-Ins

What is a drop-in?

Designed for puppies and older dogs alike. Drop-ins are ideal if you need someone to pop in, feed, let out in the garden and check that they’re ok.

Why are drop-ins important?

Understanding and research on dogs welfare has proven that an important part of maintaining your dogs health and wellbeing is to never leave them alone for long periods. They are extremely sensitive and their emotional needs are very much like our own when it comes to feeling anxious. Like us too they are unique in how they cope with every day stresses. Most behaviourists and vets would agree that leaving any dog for more than 5 hours during the day or night can have a detrimental effect on their mental health.

How long should I leave my puppy?

Puppies from 10wks can be introduced slowly to short periods of being left alone. During their first 2months development, slowly introducing them to being on their own will help with any future separation anxiety problems. Puppies sleep a lot and with careful planning and timing they should never feel uncomfortable or scared when you go out. A maximum of 2 hours should be reached by 3months old. Some equipment can be used to great success such as crates and cameras, likki mats and Kongs.

Andrea has been taking care of my high drive puppy for almost a year now, and I am extremely happy with the service that Bow Wows Canine Care provide. I was anxious about walking my puppy due to several bad dog attacks on my previous dog. Andrea very kindly allowed me to join her on some group walks, which has enabled me to regain my confidence. I cannot thank her enough for her support. Having seen how happy all the dogs are in her care, including my own, I can now relax knowing that my puppy is loved and well taken care of in my absence
